Kimberly
A. Hymer, Consumer Researcher, is working on curriculum for the
Certified Peer Specialist and Community Reintegration research
project. Kim serves on the CRO team and the Research Team and
conducts surveys and interviews with CRO members and leaders across
Kansas. Kim graduated from the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP)
training, the Consumer as Provider program, and the Leadership
Academy. She has volunteered for The Kansas Recovery Conference,
the Leadership Empowerment Advocacy Project and Heartland S.H.A.R.E
and has attended the Kansas Recovery Conference, Kansas Homeless
Coalition, Kansas Summit Conference and the CRO Annual Leadership
Retreat. Kim has been an advocate for improved mental health and
is a member of the Breakthrough Club here in Wichita. Kim brings
much to the Self-Help Network including experience in mutual support,
knowledge of community resources. She demonstrates a willingness
to share her own experiences to help others with a focus on helping
CRO’s advertise to attract new members and fundraise to
provide needed activities and services. Kim has a grandson and
granddaughter and her son recently moved home to live with her.
Kim grew up in Newton and has lived in Wichita since 1998. She
loves to write and is working on two inspirational short story
books. In her free time, she visits with friends and family, plays
Internet games, keeps up with people through e-mail, and likes
to bowl and go to the movies.
